Name: Kouta Age: 18 Gender: Male History: When Kouta was twelve his father and little sister were brutally murdered right in front of his eyes. His mother died even before that. After experiencing this traumatical event he was hospitalized for a year. He does not remember anything about the incident and he has been told his father had died in a car accident and his sister died of illness. Throughout the serie he regains more and more of his memories regarding his father and sister. Personality: He is a calm and gentle person who has a weakness for girls in need since they all remind him of his little sister.

Name: Lucy Age: 18 Gender: Female Diclonus History: Lucy is a Diclonus, an after evolution of men. She has four 'vectors' with a range of up to 2 meters. They work just like hands, only they are invisible to the human eye, light as air and strong enough to rip a person appart. In appearance Diclonus only differ from humans by the two horns on their head. She is the only Diclonus that has the ability to reproduce. She has recently escaped from an institution that locks up all Diclonus from birth and exposes them to extremely painful experiments. Personality: Lucy has suffered so much emotional torture in her life, she now thinks humans are rotten beings. Therefore she wants to rid the world of them. She will kill almost any human being in sight by ripping their bodies appart with her vectors.

Name: Yuka Age: 18 Gender: Female History: Yuka is Kouta's cousin. She is desperatly in love with him ever since they were little. Personality: Since Yuka is in love with Kouta she gets jealous whenever Kouta is around one of the girls he has 'adopted'. She does not like being jealous but she can't help herself.

Name: Nyuu Age: 18 Gender: Female Diclonus History: When Lucy gets shot in the head with an anti-tank rifle at the beginning of the serie, she develops a split personalty who is known under the name of Nyuu. She is the direct opposite of Lucy. Kouta and Yuka find her on the beach and 'adopt 'her into their family. Personality: Nyuu has a child-like personality. She cannot speak in the beginning, attaches much value to emotions and is not capable of having any aggressive feelings. Some may describe her as 'pure innocence'.

Name: 'Director' Kurama Age: Mid 30's Gender: Male History: He is the director of the coorperation that locks up all Diclonus. Six years ago his new-born daughter turned out to be a Diclonus. Therefore she had to be killed. Kurama's wife was so concerned about her that she got up out of bed too soon and died of blood loss. Personality: He is a determined person who does not show emotions towards other people, especially when it concerns his daughter and late wife. Despite this he mourns for them and for the family they never could've been every day.

Name: Mariko Age: 6 Gender: Female Diclonus History: Mariko is Director Kurama's daughter. After Director Kurama's wife died out of concern for their daughter he promised her not to kill her. Because Mariko is a much more dangerous Diclonus as any other alive (she has 26 vectors with a range of 11 meters) she is locked up in a giant dark metal room ever since she was born. The only contact she has with the outside world is through some speakers with her foster parent. Personality: After Mariko has been released to hunt down and kill Lucy she turns out to be extremely hostile and can only be controlled by the explosives that have been implanted in her body (they let her arm blow off as a warning). She has a personality we might refer to as extremely sadistic but the series refer to her actions as 'like a child playing with it's toys'.

Name: Mayu Age: 14 Gender: Female History: After being physically abused by her mother and sexually abused by her stephfather Mayu runs away from home. She lives alone with her little dog Wanta on the beach. The only thing she ever eats is leftover bread crust which she gets from the local bakery by saying it is for her dog. When Kouta and Yuka find out about her they decide to adopt her. Personality: Mayu has a shy personality and is always worried about being a nuisance to other people. Therefore she likes to help alot around the house because that makes her feel needed.

Name: Nana Age: 6 (although physically she looks like a 12 year old girl. This is because Diclonus that can't reproduce, age much faster as normal persons) Gender: Female Diclonus History: Nana is one of the test subjects at the coorperation Director Kurama works for. Director Kurama has been assigned to act like her father so Nana loves him very much. Only because she wants to prove herself to him she is abe to sustain the horrible test that are being implemented on her. Personality: Nana has a kind personality and is one of the few Diclonus that refuses to kill any humans. She constantly seeks the blessings and approval of Director Kurama since she sees him as her father. She would do anyhting for him. She is always very scared of being abandoned and being alone again.
