Name: Keitaro Urashima Age: 20 Gender: Male History: Keitaro is a rounin (people who graduated highschool but still try to get into university) who is trying to get into Tokyo University. He is trying very hard because he has a memory about him and a girl promising eachother they would meet again in Tokyo University. This because they had heard that if two lovers both get into Tokyo University they would live happily forever. The only problem is, Keitaro failed for the entrance exams two times already. Therefore he get's kicked out of the house by his parents. He decides to go to his grandmothers who owns a female hot-spring inn (Hinata Inn). The rest of the serie takes place at the inn. Personality: Keitaro has a kind personality but he is very clumsy. His bad luck is endless and therefore he get's into trouble alot. All residents of Hinata Inn think of him as a no-good pervert. This is because of his clumsyness and bad luck, Keitaro often get's into situations like (accidentally) grabbing someones breast or walking into the girls hot spring.

Name: Naru Narusegawa Age: 17 Gender: Female History: Narusegawa is one of the residents of Hinata inn. She is trying to get into Tokyo University just like Keitaro but she keeps faling alongside of him. She constantly smashed Keitaro up after he's done something stupid again. Personality: Narusegawa has a very aggressive and determined personality. She constantly beats Keitaro up because she actually has problems with expressing her true feelings towards him.

Name: Shinobu Maehara Age: 13 Gender: Female History: Shinobu's parents are about to divorce at the beginning of the series. Both of them are about to move away but Shinobu wants to stay for she finally is starting to make some friends here. She therefore decides to move into Hinata Inn. Personality: Shinobu is a pretty shy girl who is afraid to get in the way. She is very skilled in cooking and household chores because she used to help a lot in her parents' restaurant. Shinobu is a good friend of Kaolla and she is in love with Keitaro but she doesn't dare to say it.

Name: Kaolla Su Age: 14 Gender: Female History: Kaolla is a transfer student from the kingdom of Molmol. She stays at Hinata Inn and goes to the same school as Shinobu. She is always inventing some new incredible machinery like a robot that grows by absorbing electronics and a virtual reality helmet. Personality: Kaolla has a friendly and kind, but very hyperactive personality. She is very clever when it comes down to machinery. She has a little crush on Keitaro, mainly because he looks like her brother. (Note: Then person called her brother isn't really her brother but a cousin.)

Name: Mutsumi Otohime Age: 21 Gender: Female History: Mutsumi meets Keitaro and Narusegawa when they are on a vacation to forget about their studies for a moment. Just like Keitaro, she also has failed her entrance exams to Tokyo University three times already. At a certain point in the serie Keitaro believes that Mutsumi is the girl he made the promise with to go to Tokyo University but this turns out to be false. Personality: Mutsumi is even clumsier as Keitaro and tends to fall unconsious at random moments. The only reason why she failed the Tokyo University entrance exam is because she had dropped unconsious suring the exam or forgot to write her name on the paper. She turns out to be able to get an A grade easily.

Name: Motoko Aoyama Age: 17 Gender: Female History: Motoko fled from her dojo in order to train more before she could become the leader of the dojo. Therefore she now stays at Hinata Inn. Personality: She is an athletic and very strong woman who is highly trained in the art of Kendo (a martial arts type of sword fighting). She dislikes men and is very agressive towards them. This is mainly because her sister left the dojo to marry a man.

Name: Mitsune Konno Age: 19 Gender: Female History: Mitsune is a novel writer (although she never writes anything) who lives at Hinata Inn. She is an old school friend of Narusegawa. Personality: Mitsune is a self centered person who does not like quietness. Therefore she will always make sure that something is happening to her friends. She also likes sake a lot and therefore you see her drunk a couple of times in the serie.

Name: Haruka Urashima Age: Mid-Age Gender: Female History: Haruka is Keitaro's aunt. She used to work at Hinata Inn under Keitaro's Grandmother and she remains to work there after Keitaro takes over. Personality: Haruka has a calm personality. She is always watching by the sideline letting everyone solve their own problems, yet making sure things do not get completely out of hand.
